The Trip of a Lifetime
Have you ever felt inclined to take life for granted, or been bored with the direction it’s taking you? That’s a fairly common response to something that you think just happens to you, as opposed to what happens for you when your life has a plan.
Life can feel a bit like the song that never ends…. it just goes on and on, my friend. And thankfully it does, because the alternative doesn’t really seem all that inviting.
I like the popular idea that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, because that puts a different perspective on everything.
If you think of life as a spiritual journey, it adds a deeper dimension that will probably bring you to the realisation that life isn’t always what it seems to be. The meanings we attribute to the events we experience, and the emotions that we ascribe to those meanings, carry power to either help you to rise above the trials, or succumb to their pressure.
A spiritual outlook helps to make sense of anything that comes your way, including the flat spots that can seem like tedious nonsense, the fun, the weirdness, trials, hardship, excitement, love, friendships and all of the other ways you can describe life on any given day.
There is always deeper meaning to the events we experience. Nothing is ever wasted, no matter how painful, annoying or frustrating it might be to us.
It could take a while for the wisdom to show up, but eventually, if you’re open to it, you will receive the gift that even the most trying experience has to offer. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we have to dig deep to find the inner strength to just keep going.
This kind of gift does not arrive in the middle of an emotionally trying time, while you’re throwing a tantrum, or even if you’re giving voice to the injustice of it all. I’ve tried all of those methods, and can say for sure, they don’t help.
These special gifts arrive in the stillness of a quiet mind, during prayer, meditation, or while your mind is focused on higher quality thoughts.
If you’re open to it, even when you’re in the depths of the darkest of life’s storms, you can know that you are not alone, you can feel that there’s something greater than yourself, guiding, pulling or carrying you through till you find that you’re on solid ground.
Gaining a footing on a firm foundation is always a relief, and often that’s enough to send you happily on your way.
Yet other so-called gifts challenge us to our very core and leave us deeply exhausted, mentally, emotionally and sometimes physically. Finding a solid foundation is the signal to take a rest, maybe even a long, complete rest to allow a full recovery.
I am dedicated to providing real assistance to anyone who has not yet found the healing they need.
