Self Evaluation
You’re only one decision away from doing life your way, so what decisions do you need to make for your best life?
Do you ever think about making changes to your life and how these adjustments might improve your circumstances? Deep down, in your heart of hearts, you are aware that you are capable of achieving anything you want to commit to. Does something happen after the moment of inspiration that prevents you from taking positive, sustained action? That’s usually when the subconscious mind says “nah, don’t do that, it’s too scary.”
Studies show that setting goals and working toward them will bring results much more quickly than keeping it all in your head. Goals need to be written down if you want them to materialise.
Sometimes it takes courage to look closely at yourself, the details of your life, and make plans to follow through on your decisions. Self-evaluation is not usually a quick-fix activity. It is an honest assessment of your strengths as well as the areas you need to improve. It also helps to think of your weaknesses as opportunities for growth. This prepares you to participate more effectively with those on your team, like your boss, coach, spouse and other relationships.
Look at your life and carefully evaluate how happy or satisfied you are in some key areas of your life – for example: health, relationships, career & finances, personal growth and development. Write a list. Most of us, at one time or another come to realise that we’re acting on someone else’s plan for us and it may be time to make a new plan.
No matter what our age or situation, we’re not stuck unless we choose to be. However, those choices are often made at the sub-conscious level, and that can mean we’re not even aware that we’ve made a choice. Studies show that 95% of our life is run by subconscious programming that is based on how we learned to perceive ourselves in the early years of childhood. Our own subconscious mind is not generally helping us to experience anything new or challenging. The job of the subconscious is to keep us safe from making mistakes, from getting hurt or scared. It is programmed to keep us where we are, safely doing what we’ve always done, and this is what makes it so hard to make changes in our lives. There’s a lot of scientific evidence about that now.
Science also tells us that our beliefs and perceptions are responsible for all that we bring into our lives, whether we like it or not. It’s true – your thoughts and deeply held beliefs can either bring you happiness and success or they can make you sick or keep you stuck! We really are what we think about! That adds value to the old saying that “nobody can afford the luxury of a negative thought.”
My message is an important one. You are so much more than you think you are, and you are capable of achieving anything you put your mind to.” Live true to who you really are, that is, your authentic self, and everything that’s not part of that higher version of yourself falls away. And by the way, nobody really knows who they are at that authentic level because of the before-mentioned subconscious programming, and let’s not forget our inherited beliefs! By doing some focused inner work, your mind will be set free to live the life you were born to live, uncluttered by the expectations of others.
Start by writing your manifestation list, that’s the list of things you want in your life, so you can live your dream instead of someone else’s version of your dream. To quote Marianne Williamson, every decision you make reflects your evaluation of who you are.
