There is always an alternative when it comes to finding answers to our problems. |
The word holistic is of Greek origin and can be used interchangeably with wholistic. Because holistic refers to the whole, and takes into account the whole person, including their physical, mental and social wellbeing rather than focusing on symptoms, the ‘w” version makes more sense, but Google dictionary disagrees. Is mainstream or holistic a better approach to such things as the recommended daily intake on the food pyramid; fluoride; home birthing; the school system; the medical system, or myriads of other topics? Every person on the planet has their own opinion. Have you ever looked for, or taken a holistic approach to something that has troubled you for a long time? Usually there’s quite a lot of research needed to come up with the most suitable solution, but that only happens if our prejudices don’t get in the way. Mainstream methods are designed to address the average person’s issues, but, as my lecturer used to say, “when you look for the average person, there’s nobody there. Everybody is either left or right of average.” This is why it’s important to understand that we can’t always put ourselves in the hands of the mainstream. It’s just as important to know that every holistic modality has its place, and you need to know a bit about each one. Sometimes, the solution to illness comes from both sides of medical science, western and holistic, because they’re two sides of the same coin. If your appendix is about to rupture, or you’ve got broken bones, it’s definitely a quick trip to hospital. A holistic approach supports your body’s innate ability to keep healthy, heal itself and protect you from developing illness like infection and other diseases. When we’re talking about long-term, unresolved chronic health problems, holistic healers take into consideration the whole person, not just the part of you that is obviously suffering. The human body is a self-healing machine when it’s given what it needs to complete the job. Following is an example of the broad view that holistic healers take when consulting with their clients. If you have a headache, there are many questions relating to the possible causes, and the answers often help pinpoint the solution. Relevant questions might include “how much water have you had to drink?” This headache could be from dehydration, and drinking water could be all that is needed. “How long have you had the headache? What other symptoms do you have?” “Have you ever had glandular fever or a flu that you’ve never fully recovered from?” The answers to these questions can lead to the discovery of a dormant virus, or even several viruses, that have taken up residence in your organs, becoming active and bringing you down when you’re under stress. “Did the pain begin on left or right side of the head?” This is a classic sign of migraine, which leads to asking: “Is there an aura affecting your vision? and do you suffer from migraines?” From that we learn that a particular organ needs treatment. Other information relating to allergies, diet and lifestyle, circulation, sleep, energy, immune system, and the mental, spiritual and social aspects of life are vital to the successful treatment of any chronic illness. Another important thing we need to understand is that our healing depends on how we view the world we live in. If we have a pessimistic, unhappy or unlucky outlook on life, those thoughts and feelings carry negative energy that creates more of the same. Limited thinking doesn’t allow you to see the good that surrounds you. If you find yourself in situations that cause you to relive past trauma, the antidote is to create and commit to a more positive attitude and outlook. There are some easy ways to heal the old energy. Tools include different styles of meditation, releasing techniques that are easily learned so that you can take control and change what isn’t allowing you to feel the joy of your own existence. A visit to an Energy Healer will speed up the process for long-term and deep trauma. If you want to enjoy your life, it’s important to develop and maintain a positive and enthusiastic outlook. By generating an attitude of gratitude for all that you have and all that you are, even through life’s hardships, you are building up your resilience, which leads to a healthier mind, body and spirit. If you first develop a positive attitude, then look at your reality and observe the outcome of your efforts, the evidence of success is much more obvious. Each of us needs to be aware that the answers to all of life’s difficulties can be addressed by looking inwardly instead of searching for answers externally. I know from personal and professional experience that this has a very positive effect on our lives. It took several decades of my life to finally realize what it means to have choice, and that it is our birthright to choose what we do and how we live and feel in this life. That’s not to minimize anyone’s suffering, instead, it’s meant to empower us to change the old patterns of thinking. Sometimes our conditioning from our early life would have us blaming others, or our circumstances for our failures and lack of success. We can decide to take responsibility for our own life now, and let go of the programming from the past. This is the way to real freedom, wellness and happiness. If you need help in identifying and changing your habits, behaviors or beliefs that are holding you back from living your best life, these are just some of my areas of expertise. Call to discuss how I may be able to help you, or book a consultation now and discover the path that will change your life in the best and fastest ways. It’s easier than you think.
